I went to a seminar with Royce Gracie. That was great!!! Very Happy

Other than that I did a few Vale Tudo training sessions, which isn't that far off BJJ.

a fellow dan grade in our club is also a blue belt gracie JJ. All his gradings were done under Royce who i have managed to miss every time he has come round this way! Now the club that my mate trains at has switched teams to Brazillian Top Team and i dont think i will ever get a chance to thrashed by the man himself! Saying that my mate is hard enough on the ground. He goes for purple belt soon so he is training , i get to be choking assistant for a while! All good fun!

Wow, to get to purple in BJJ is pretty damn good!!! That's meant to be equivalent to 1st Dan.

I can't see the point in doing the grades like that though. If it is well known that purple is like a dan grade, why not have that level a black belt? The whole point of wearing a belt is to show what level you are at!!!!

Anyway......certainly not arguing with their techniques. Very good stuff.

At the seminar I went to Royce awarded grades out to the local club players at the end of the seminar, just on what he had seen. I tried to get back for his next seminar there but the instuctor said it was all sold out. Sad

Old news now but related to Royce Gracie who tested positive for steroids/nandrolone after his last fight with Sakuraba. Here are some details I found -

- CSAC CLARIFIES ROYCE GRACIE DRUG TEST
Monday, June 18, 2007 - by Ken Pishna - MMAWeekly.com

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The California State Athletic Commission today released a statement in regards to Royce Gracie’s recent positive test results concerning his K-1 fight against Kazushi Sakuraba. Initial reports indicated that Gracie had tested positive for Nandrolone, a steroid that occurs naturally in the human body, but did not include detailed information other than the positive result.

Today’s statement answered questions regarding the results being borderline or a false positive. According to the CSAC, they contacted the laboratory that performed the testing and obtained specific, detailed information about the test and results.

The statement read, “A normal person could have a level of 2 ng/mL of Nandrolone that the human body could potentially produce and an athlete that has just completed rigorous physical exercise could have a level of 6 ng/mL.

“We received a written response from the laboratory's Director of Science and Technology confirming the positive ‘A’ sample and positive ‘B’ sample.

Both samples provided by Mr. Gracie had a level of over 50 ng/mL and we were informed that the level itself was so elevated that it would not register on the laboratory's calibrator.”

Following initial reports of the positive results, Gracie maintained his innocence, commenting to Sherdog.com Editor Josh Gross that he had taken supplements that are available at GNC, but nothing else and would not consider doing such.

I was very disappointed when I heard this news, I had always admired Royce as someone who used technique over strength. This was the first time Royce was ever drug tested so it does throw a dark shadow over his career.

Yes this true, Royce get banned for one year in July and he not appeal. His family not happy with him say on sherdog. If that was me innocent I fight to clear my name.
